Have Laptop, Will Travel

So far during my short career as a software engineer, I have found that the power to "work from home" is not nearly as nice a perk as it at first sounds. I may be unique in this, but after a few hours my bedroom starts to drive me nuts.

Yesterday, I figured out what I was doing wrong. I was taking the phrase far too literally. Once I realized this, I went on a "working from home" tour of my favorite places in Waltham.

Cafe on the Common

It should be noted that the cup of coffee is called Ring of Fire, and that it is a good deal of fun to ask your favorite barista for a "medium Ring of Fire."

Bison County Bar

From these images together, we learn that, if it isn't black as midnight on a moonless night, a good programmer won't drink it.

After leaving the cafe (which closes entirely too early), and before getting hungry enough for the bar, I spent much of the day in my new favorite place, Back Pages Books on Moody Street. Unfortunately, I was so productive there that I forgot to take a picture.

The moral of the story is: it's nice to live in a town where you're never out of range of someone's free wireless network.
