Sorry about the downtime. Our sublessors had some trouble with their host, and so they changed providers.
All we appear to have lost in the move is a few comments. I do have those backed up, but (because I’m a fool; it’s a long story) it may take a while before I get around to reloading them.
Due to a convergence of TBND contributors’ reading lists, I’ve proposed we hold a seminar of sorts. In about three weeks, we will try to coordinate a series of posts on T.S. Kuhn’s The Structure of Scientific Revolutions. With any luck, myself, Todd, Ruth, and Adrianne will all get involved, and anyone else with something to say (or a bone to pick) should feel free to contact us about writing a guest post on the topic. We’ll aim for the 26th as a publication date, so by picking up the book now, anyone should be able to finish in time to take part in what promises to be a lively debate. While everything that might usefully be said about Kuhn’s work has probably already appeared in print in the 44 years since it was first published, maybe we can add some new insights. And besides, when is it not fashionable to be seen reading Kuhn?
… I wouldn’t have been, if I were you.
Anyway, I thought I’d mention that I’m trying to resurrect Back to the Lab. The whole MongoHosting fiasco, combined with bringing the group blog back on-line and getting a job, put my personal blog on a remote back burner. But I realize that the personal posts are more interesting to my family and certain of my friendss, and I’ve finally gotten things back in (some sort of) order over there.
Many thanks, by the way, to the Internet Archive for having a copy of my old style sheet.
Comments don’t work yet. I’ll get on it, but I have a date with “Hell’s Kitchen” first.
I have some advice, should anyone who reads this ever meet a shifty looking fellow calling himself Robert Dunbar.
First and foremost, don’t go into business with him, or give him any money.
Secondly, call me. Don’t let him out of your sight until I have arrived. I owe him one.
Getting the website back up has been a chore. Luckily (I suppose?) I haven’t had much else to keep me busy. Tomorrow I have a meeting, which I hope will quickly become a new job. Meaning this is all back together just under the wire.
Meanwhile, this guide to fonts in Linux has made my life a lot better.
